Summary0003036: Copying selected region to a folder
DescriptionHi developers,
I´d liked to copy map tiles from selected region as visible on the screenshot..

I selected levels what I´d like to copy and system of saving the tiles and pressed start.. But just the tiles that is already present in cache was copied.

I see the point how it was meant, as - just to copy tiles from the cache, but to me seems like nonsense that nothing is copied if selected different zoom level.. It is clear that I´d like to copy all the tiles of the selected region - does not depend on what is in cache and what is not.

I may set this behavior in the bases of what is selected as source - if it is caches or internet and caches or just the internet - so I mean - if I like to copy cached tiles I can select the source to be just the cache, if I like to copy new tiles from the internet independent on what is in the cache, I may select internet only etc.

Even that now it seems like a bug if I select zoom level e.g. 2 and press start and never had displayed the level 2 then nothing is copied and look like something is wrong..

Also will be better if the region can still stay displayed selected while the settings window is displayed.. Now it disappear just right after the selection..

So - I think would be better to let the user to select the source from where to copy tiles from and then the tiles can be copied as selected.. So it will create perfect map from the selected region.

For the format of the tiles - "original" map tiles format could be as an option - now it is only possible to select "Auto" or to set the format of the tiles.. So - if the Original will be then selected it will mean to use the same format as the original map tiles. If Auto means "Original" then it will be better rename "Auto" to "Original map tiles format"

Please, make something with it.

I think that we will not change the current behavior. All operations with the region (Export/Copy/Delete/etc) only work with the cache by design.

If you set option "View - Previous Selection", it will stay always visible.

 Yes, but how is then possible to export the region as tiles for MOBAC if not used COPY? Now I have to select the region, press download and download the tiles into cache before export - it is not as smart.. I just need to make the copy to selected folder of the map I set before.. More - I have to make it for all the layers also..

I think the behavior should then be changed - because - why is there the button "Source" if just the cache works? And more - it really seems like a bug - imagine that you are watching your map and move some parts, zoom etc, then you like the setup and like to export (save) it into a folder.. You are then very surprised that not complete map is saved - just some tiles from zoom level e.g. 14, few tiles from 13, and 12 and etc.. What you may then think of it?? :) I think it is a bug..

This button for Enable/Disable Internet and Cache in "browser" mode. Even if you set "Cache", you still be able select some region and Download tiles as separate task.

I select region, press copy and select zoom levels to copy then nothing is in my selected folder - do you really think it is a feature?

It is nonsense to Download from cache to cache, download means downloads to cache.. But it is not nonsense to export from caches, stitch, generate, delete - means from cache - nobody may think they will be deleted from internet :) and copy - why not to copy tiles from any sources? But - why to copy just from cache - and if my tiles are not cached nothing is then copied?

The Download task must then contain all my selected layers - so if I have hillshades, cycleways as overlay I have to make 3 tasks of download - remember which one is displayed in my setup and separately pressed again last selection 3 times and fourth is then to copy to my folder finally...

Yes it is. The program was designed so. And I think it is right.

У меня просто не хватает словарного запаса, чтобы расписать и обосновать почему у нас разделены операция Загрузки и все остальные операции.

I hope you will see my point later. It is simply bad..

Or the download should contain all possibilities of "Copy" - to download all the layers of my setup to cache - then by copying will copy all the previously downloaded tiles into another folder..

 I found a solution: "Copy tiles from selection to folder" should be renamed to: "Copy cached tiles from selection to folder" or something like this.

And in other tabs we should accent attention, that operation processed only with cached tiles.

 Yes. You select Copy cache to selected folder. As you have empty cache so you get empty folder.

In SAS.Planet all about working with cache: download to cache, copy from cache, generate cache, show info about cache and so on.
